The Arda Alliance "Mission Statement"

Okay, so maybe "mission statement" is a bit too formal. This document is simply intended to explain the purpose of the Arda Alliance and the spirit in which it was founded.

We like Tolkien!

Well, obviously! If you really couldn't stand Tolkien's work, you wouldn't have a Tolkien board.

We are not competitors...

We do not need to compete with each other for members or for recognition. There are plenty of Tolkien fans to go around! We will therefore never engage in any activity that might harm other boards, especially other members of the Alliance. If one board is attacked or made to look silly, it reflects upon the entire Tolkien community, so it is in our best interests to stick together!

...we are allies.

That means that we help each other where possible, especially if a board is in trouble, and even if all we can offer is moral support. Improving any and all Tolkien boards is beneficial to the entire community, so it is appropriate for us to share resources when we can (call it "enlightened self-interest", if you like).

And we have fun!

We may occasionally try out fun social activities (board hop, anyone?), but we keep our own focuses (foci?) on our own boards, because of course that is more fun! We already have responsibilities on our own boards, so the Arda Alliance is designed to be as low-commitment as possible.
